Monthly Review

Today is February 1st, 2010. One month ago, I made some resolutions - or goals, really. Every year I make them, and every year I tend to break them. So, something that I am going to try to do this year is repost those goals at the beginning of every month and assess whether or not I am really reaching for those goals.

1. I am going to hit my “goal” weight this year! I am definitely closer now than I was 6 months ago!

I am working hard at this. I am continuing to workout 4x/wk.


2. I am going to take at least one picture EVERY day. These can be of anything. I will post my favorite picture from each month at the end of every month.

I did really well with this nearly every day this month. Some pictures were much better than others. I will post my favorite January picture tomorrow.


3. I am going to blog and journal more often this year. This applies to my personal and professional blogs.

I am working on this. So far, so good. I could do better, but I am actively blogging a few times every week.


4. I will read a minimum of 12 books this year. I love reading. I need to do it more - and not just on the computer.

I need to work harder on this one. For the past month, I have been extremely busy at work. Every evening when I come home, after Ainsley goes to bed, I am back at the computer working until I am too tired to stay awake any longer. I haven’t given myself enough time to read. I am still shooting for 12 books this year, though. I can do this.

5. I am going to drink more tea this year and less coffee. I bought my teapot and a few teas today from Essencha and love it. I should have done this a long time ago.

This is going pretty well! I am very much enjoying my tea. I am not drinking it EVERY day, but close to it. I am only drinking 1 cup of coffee per day and really only 1 pop per day - which is a good change for me. I will still work harder on this and try to reduce the coffee and pop even more.

6. I am going to do my best to take my vitamins every day. I must do this. It is for my health.

For some reason, this is such a tough one. One really, this should be a top priority. I haven’t been good at the vitamins this month. I am not even sure what it is that makes me not take them. I don’t mind swallowing pills. It is just something I need to make a habit.

7. I will keep up with the housework better this year and not let things get so piled up. Nearly everything is caught up right now, so I am off to a good start.

This is kind of so-so. Rick has been incredible helping out with this one. My work has just been very busy and it is so hard to come home at night and clean. I am using my weekends better to get some of this type of work done though.

8. I am going to write more handwritten letters. People love getting mail.

I haven’t done well with this. I am going to work on this one more this month for sure.

9. I promise to call my grandparents more often. They deserve it.

This has been a little better, but I am still not as good about this as I should be.

10. I am making it a goal to send pictures of my daughter to my grandparents EVERY month. Living so far from them means they don’t get to see their Great Grand-daughter very often. This is the least I can do for them.

I haven’t sent them any yet, but I have a bunch to print. I am making it a goal to get them printed and mailed THIS WEEK!

11. I am going to get myself on a better sleep schedule. I need 8 hours EVERY night. No TV show is more important than my sleep and good health.

Well, I have definitely cut out a TON of tv. I just don’t have the time - nor do I even really care much anymore. There are only a few shows that I really like. It isn’t the TV that has gotten in the way of sleep this past month - it has been work. I am really hoping that I can change that soon.

12. I will not watch as much TV. It is a distraction that I do not need in my life.

13. I will eat less fast-food this year. This is going to help me hit my goal weight and help teach my daughter better eating/food habits.

I am doing better with this. I am meeting with my trainer on Thursday to go through some nutrition information, so I think that is going to help as well.

14. I am going to take more deep breathes in 2010. I need them.

Check. I am definitely doing this. I know this because even just today Jen asked me why I kept taking so many deep breathes. This is good.
